While startups present exciting and adrenaline-packed career opportunities they often find it hard to attract top talent. That’s mainly because they’re up against well-known brands who have a pool of highly skilled talent, global opportunities, established processes and well defined benefits that appeal to everyone in the workforce.

There are some startups, however, who’ve decorated themselves around a culture and environment that’s enticing for the talent pool to be a part of. Here are some of them.

Slack

Who they are: Slack is a chat app aimed at businesses rather than individuals and works best for small to medium-sized teams. Teams can talk with each other on chat channels, send direct messages, and create private groups.

Why Employees Love it: Slack’s CEO believes in the motto “work hard, go home”. He feels that employees are most productive for 6-8 hours and should go home at 5:30pm.

Akamon Entertainment

Who they are: The UK-based company develops and operates both casino and traditional multi-platform social games.

Why Employees Love it: Teams use games to come together. Instead of traditional meeting room discussions they simply chat over a game of table soccer or ping pong. To add to it, the Akamon team uses scooters to commute from place to place.

Sprinklr

Who they are: Sprinklr offers social media and marketing cloud software to businesses.

Why Employees Love it: Sprinklr is extremely selective in who they hire – super-smart, dynamic and motivated individuals. Amongst its benefits include a flexible leave policy, work from home options, and gym membership discounts.

Voxy

Who they are: Voxy offers task-based curriculum and online learning opportunities for students and professionals to learn languages.

Why Employees Love it: Named by Business Insider as one of the “10 Best U.S. Tech Companies to Work For,” Voxy’s environment encourages people to grow, learn, and gain new skills. Their offices have a game room and offer flexible work hours.

Airbnb

Who they are: Airbnb is an online service that matches people with rooms or homes to rent with visitors who need short-term accommodations.

Why Employees Love it: The company rewards employees for hard work, creativity, and ongoing contributions by allowing and encouraging them to work in a variety of roles. Individuals are provided opportunities to learn from multiple teams and mentors to strengthen their cross-functional skills.
